Remember, if you used to smoke a pack a day, you would save up to $1,900 a year by quitting. You can afford expensive gifts for yourself now!
- Full-body massage or spa day—frustration and irritability are common feelings when quitting. Reward yourself with a soothing massage!
- Go on a mini vacation! You don’t need to go far, but a day trip or change of scenery can be both distracting and relaxing.
- Video games are both distracting and entertaining (or go old-school with a board game to play with friends)
- New watch
- If you have a hobby, invest in whatever gear you might use—this might include a new camera lens if you like photography; auto accessories if you like cars; brush set, sketchbook, or easel if you like to create; new sheet music or music gear if you play an instrument; surfboard or wetsuit if you like hitting the waves, etc. You’ll have more time to develop your interests now that you are no longer smoking.
- Don’t have a hobby? Take a class or simply try something new. This might be rock climbing, knitting, yoga, cooking, bicycling, martial arts—whatever piques your interest.
